    Default Renaming the zcadmin folder

I'm trying to follow the instructions posted here and have gotten to the part saying "A - (For v1.5.0 or newer, skip this step, and proceed directly to step B)" and when I get to "B" it says "Find your Zen CartŪ /admin/ directory, using your FTP software or your webhost File Manager. Rename the directory to match the settings you just made in step A."

Now, I've read it over and over and I have searched the forum to no avail for an answer to my question.

Now, to the question. I'm trying to rename the "zcadmin" folder and cannot get back into it if I just "rename" it. I get the 404 error page included with zencart.

I'd like to be able to get back into the admin portion with a renamed admin folder for mine and our customers security.

    What am I missing?

    The specs:

    Zencart 1.5.0
Ceon URI Mapping ( SEO )
    Picaflur Azul Template
and I think one other but can't remember it at this moment.

    Thanks,

    Techextreme

I followed the same instructions you did and had no issues. On a fresh install, in your Zen root directory you have the following folders:

    admin
    cache
    docs
    download
    editors
    email
    extras
    images
    includes
    media
    pub

The instructions say you should rename the "admin" folder. For example, I named mine to "adminhidden". So now my Zen root folder structure looks like:

    adminhidden
    cache
    docs
    download
    editors
    email
    extras
    images
    includes
    media
    pub

    Hope that helps explain it.

    Thanks xwielder,

I tried that and still no good. I've renamed it a few different things including a folder with uppercase and lower case characters. Something totally off the wall. But I'm still not able to get into the admin portion.

    Any thoughts?

    Hmmm... this is indeed odd.

So let me ask, assuming you have something like this: www.mysite.com/store/adminhidden/

When you go to that site and directory, you're getting a "404" page?

It would be closer to mysite.com/zcadmin.

If I change it to mysite.com/AnyTh1ng, I get the 404 error

Okay, let me ask... is it a "Zen" 404? Browser generated "404"? Or hosting company "404"?

If you could, can you put the live link to what's not working? (change the admin folder to something you're not going to user permanently so it's safe to post).

It is a Zen 404 error.

I'd rather not put a link up that is even "close" just for my own security.

Is this a new 1.5.0 install or an upgrade from a previous version.
Its only the newer configure.php files in 1.5.0 that you don't have to update with the new path info
If its an upgrade then you are probably using an older version of these 2 files and you will need to manually edit and update them with the new path info.

This is a fresh install of 1.5.0 and has alot of products already loaded.

We used the 1.5.0 because a) it's the newest b) it's what was available for Zencart installations via the cPanel from the webhost.

    Then backup the database:
    http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?...ith-phpmyadmin

delete all the files, and do a manual installation, meaning to download the package from here, ftp to server, and follow installation instructions in the docs folder; and you'll see problem solved.
