I have gotten the space to disappear and even when out of stock is showing there is no additional space but the items under the image are still not right

I tried moving things around in the file but had no effect at all. We need the listing to be image/name/price/moreinfo area

other suggestions, I even used the file from the actual column pro layout plugin and it too showed the large space, I had to use the file from the single listing template mod to remove the extra space which causes the name to appear as if it belongs to the image below.

My best advice is to restore the original template file. Then, if you need customizations, make them from that file. You might check the column layout grid module support thread for instructions on how to modify the layout.
