Help with customizing template and background

Can someone please help? I'm trying to customize my site and move it from Miva to Zen now and the first step I created my CUSTOM template folder. Then I tried to add my picture as a background and read threads here and it's not working:

I put in:
body {
margin: 0;
font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: 62.5%;
color: #000000;
background: url(..images/right_pic_2.jpg) background-repeat: repeat;
}

you can see my old live store to see how it should look. I'm trying to mimic the setup via my own custom template

My guess is that you have changed the /classic template css files, but have uploaded the /template_default.css files.

I made the "CUSTOM" template thus far after merging all my categories and products via these directions: http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?...ustom-template

so the above excerpt is from the custom template I just started and chose for the view

Your page source says you're using the default_template. Did you select your custom template in Admin - Tools - Template Selection and reset the sideboxes ?
