Idea or Suggestion how do I let customer choose an amount to pay? to pay support fees

    Hi everyone

I just finished installed zen cart on an SSL+cURL enbled website. I have also installed the Authorize.net (AIM) module for processing payments along with transaction key configuration and stuff. I am having few questions the answer to which I was not able to find searching around.

the reason we installed zen cart is because merchant wearhouse recommended we should (if we wanted to process authorize.net)

the reason is that we need to allow our customers to come in and pay their support fee which varies for each customer. previous, we had a page where they would fill-in a form with their name and the amount they needed to pay and click the pay button; it would take them to our paypal page where they'd be able to process the payment.

that's basically what I need to achieve with this zen cart and am not sure how. how do I let people fill in their name, card info and an amount that they can enter (as oppose to a fixed product price they can add to shopping card) and process the payment?

I guess I just need to know how to have a product (say Support Fee) that doesn't have a fixed $ price. instead, they customer can enter his/her own amount due and proceed to the checkout.

    any guidance would be appreciated.
    thank you

Create a product whose price is $1.00
Customers can enter a quantity of how many $1 they want to purchase.

Perhaps you've configured the product to only allow Maximum 1. You may need to change that.

thank you for your time and your reply, but this doesn't really solve my problem. It seems like installing zen cart, I may have complicated my life a little bit...

I don't actually need a shopping cart for what I am trying to achieve. I merely need the payment processing functionality.

I have a page in my site which has a form with two text field; in one the customer can enter name and in the other, the support fee amount (with decimals). when they then click the pay button, the form takes them to our paypal account where they can take it from there.

now that I no longer want to use paypal, that is what I am trying to achieve here where they could input their amount in a text field of a form where it would post directly to the shopping cart where they could input their info and process the payment. making our customers increment a 1$ product is just not what I need. I just to let them enter their support amount and hit pay which will bring them to the payment page of zen cart.

If you don't have any products to sell, then it would be more appropriate to simply put a PayPal Button on your static HTML page. You don't need to use Zen Cart for that.
