Having trouble adding new attributes

I've gone through the tutorial here: http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?99

The issue I'm having is the Option Value not showing up. I've created a new Option Name in the attribute controller. When you select the Option Name, the Option Value box doesn't populate so therefore you can't hit the Insert button. (Please see picture)

What am I doing wrong?

Re: Having trouble adding new attributes

If you go to the Option Name Manager, what is the number next to the Option Name?

If you go to the Attributes Controller, what is the number next to the Option Name? (I cannot read it in the image)

Have you added any add ons that touch Admin files?

Does this issue affect all Option Names or just this one?

Re: Having trouble adding new attributes

The number next to the option name is 3946

here is a close up of the box.
Attachment 10828

It's only doing this for new attributes I am trying to add. The option value shows up on existing entries.

When you click Reply, can you please answer the questions ...

If you click on 3945, do you see Option Values?

If you click on 1117, do you see Option Values?

Re: Having trouble adding new attributes

Go to phpMyAdmin and browse your database and look at the table:

Click SQL and enter:
SELECT *
FROM products_options_values_to_products_options
WHERE products_options_id = 3945

How many records are found? If some are found, what type of data records do you see?

If you found some values for:
products_options_values_id

Browse the table:
products_options_values

Do you find those values in this table for the:
products_options_values_id

If so, what type of data records do you see?

Re: Having trouble adding new attributes

It really sounds like you have bad or incomplete data ...

Go to the Catalog ... Option Name Manager ... and find #3945 and #3946 and edit them and change their names to something like:
Options 45
Options 46

to match their numbers ...

Go to the Catalog ... Option Value Manager ... and try to add Option Values for your:
Options 45

then try to add Option Values for your:
Options 46

Now go to the Attributes Controller ...

Do you see the Option Name:
Options 45 [Radio] [#3945]

in the list? And If so, if you click on it, do you new see Option Values in the list?

Re: Having trouble adding new attributes

I've named them Options 45 & 46 like you suggested but don't see them in the Option Value Manager.

Re: Having trouble adding new attributes

If you go to the Option Name Manager and click on the DELETE for these Option Names ...

Do you get at the top of the page:
Option Name: Test Option Name
This option has no products linked to it - it is safe to delete it.
Caution: All Option Values will be deleted for this Option Name.

Or does it list Products?

NOTE: Just click CANCEL to get out of the DELETE

Re: Having trouble adding new attributes

It sounds like the Option Name(s) are not setup completely with proper Option Values or that you have bad data in the database tables ...

Do you import data or enter everything in your Zen Cart Admin ...

Re: Having trouble adding new attributes

All of the prior data was imported and then tweaked as needed. These last two I was trying to add from scratch and haven't been able to get anywhere with it.

Re: Having trouble adding new attributes

You would be best trying to add a new Option Name (something easily recognizable from the others) ... then add the Option Values for it ... then try to add the Attributes to a Product using the new Option Name and Option Values ...

If that works, you can then get rid of the broken ones and rename the new Option Name to what you want it to read ...

Re: Having trouble adding new attributes

I can't add a new option name to the database, when I go to add it, it isn't showing up in the option value manager.

Re: Having trouble adding new attributes

Go to phpMyAdmin ...

Check the table:
products_options

How many records do you have?

Go to the Last Page of the table:
products_options

when you browse it ...

What do you see for the fields:
products_options_id
language_id
products_options_name
products_options_sort_order
products_options_type
products_options_length

of the New Option Name that you just added?
