    Default (7) couldn't connect to host (GoDaddy)

    I am trying to use PayPal Express based on previous posts I have read here. When I try to check-out from my store, I receive the following immediately when clicking on Checkout: "An error occurred when we tried to contact the payment processor. Please try again, select an alternate payment method, or contact the store owner for assistance. () - (7) couldn't connect to host". I switched to PP Express from IPN because i was being paid for orders that I never saw. I am hosting on godaddy.

    I am sure this question has been posted before by somebody, but was unable to find this error message. Any ideas?

    When did you install Zen Cart?
    Are you hosted on a Windows hosting plan?
    How long has your store been active?

    GoDaddy has a bug in their Windows hosting installs, which has switched on an outdated feature, which breaks CURL functionality. To fix it, you'll need to run the following via Admin->Tools->Install SQL Patch:
    Code:
    update configuration set configuration_value='False' where configuration_key='CURL_PROXY_REQUIRED';

    Just installed within last 2 weeks. I am on a Windows host. Store has been active less than 14 days. I ran the patch you listed and will let you know results. Thanks for your help.

    Ran the patch and tested my store. Appears to be working beautifully now. Thanks a lot.

    Now start planning your escape from GoDaddy. This configuration snafu will most likely be just the beginning.

    When you find your new host, I recommend a Linux server, too.

    Definitely always better to use Linux hosting unless there is a specific technical requirement for windows hosting (which is rare).
