Newbie query - please suffer in silence.

1) eMail being sent as Plain Text although HTML selected in eMail Options.

2) Edit pages only has Plain Text no option on dropdown for HTMLarea.

I don't know how the template choice would affect email. But I also would like to do email marketing and would like more than plain text. I guess my sister uses a commercial program called Constant Contact for her sites.

The new 1.5 Zencart no longer comes with a HTML area editor. You have to grab a plugin; we're using ckeditor here:

MailChimp is nice for newsletter type marketing and cheaper than Constant Contact, there are also plugins here that integrate mailchimp into ZenCart's newsletter functions.

The Mailbeez suite is great for 'follow up' email marketing.

Sorry for the tangent, can't really help with the OP's question, other than I would move away from the native emails within ZC. They seem to get blocked as spam no matter what you do.
