PayPay Payments Pro (I hope not this one at $30/month)

Is a Standard all that is needed to use PayPal Express ?

i think it is PayPal Payments Advanced,as mine is PayPal Payments Advanced,and my website is using PayPal express checkout and it works well;

Ignore Paypal Standard.

Install Paypal Express.

If you think you need an on-site payment processor, then install Pro and pay the montly fee.

if your UK based take a look at http://www.nochex.com/ I use them as well as paypal express there rates are lower and some of my customers don't like papal

Is a Standard all that is needed to use PayPal Express ?

Um, those are PayPal *products*, not types of accounts.

PayPal has 3 kinds of accounts:
- personal
- premier
- business

A personal account is for personal transactions, and cannot be used for an online store.
A premier account can be used for an online store, and the business "name" will be your own name and your email address used on your PayPal account.
A business account can be used for an online store, and the business name will be your Registered Business Name and business email.

You can use ANY of PayPal's products with either a premier or business account. That includes Standard, Express, Advanced and Pro. If you want no monthly fees, you can use Express or Standard. The better integration to Zen Cart is with Express.

Functionally Standard and Express are very similar. Standard is just very old architecture, and Express is newer and more reliable and a better customer experience.

So, if for some bizarre reason PayPal is asking a stupid question that offers only Standard and not Express, choose Standard from that menu, just so it lets you proceed to the next step. But when it comes to setting up Zen Cart, follow the rest of the Express Checkout setup instructions.
