Default Server upgrade of PHP to 5.4.6

I am getting ready to do an upgrade of PHP on my server (for PCI Compliance regulations) which has mostly zen cart websites installed on it.

I noticed the latest stable version of PHP is 5.4.6

I have already informed the few people using 1.3.8 that their sites will no longer work on the upgraded PHP, but am wondering what will happen to the 1.3.9 and UPGRADED 1.5.0 websites with this latest version of PHP.

Specifically - most of the zen cart sites on my server have been around quite a while and the char set is ISO-8859-1 - and not utf-8.

I would appreciate any input the developers can give me on this, because the last thing I want is to have a bunch of non functioning 1.3.9 and upgraded 1.5.0 websites once the PHP is upgraded.

THANKS in advance for your input!

Dr. Byte.... wondering if you have any input on this? The server upgrade is coming up on the 31st... and worried there might be problems.

    THANKS!

If all your data is in a single characterset, then I suspect things will probably be fine.
Sorry, but I've not done extensive testing on PHP 5.4 yet, so I can't give you a definitive answer.
My best suggestion is for you to work with your host to provide a way for you to test things first.
