Default Plugin problems after Moving servers

    Hi Everyone,

I just moved the location of my store from a test server to the real deal today. Took me a good bunch of tries and a lot of hair-pulling, but I eventually got it.

The big problem here though, is plugins. First of all, since I did move all files and migrated the database over, you'd expect everything to be there.... but NO! If I go to CONFIGURATION, none of the plugins were visible. Same for some plugins listed under TOOLS However, I was able to access a few using url manipulation with gID, but some just weren't there at all.

One of my plugins is Fast and Easy Checkout. They have a .sql uninstall, so I used it and then re-entered the install.sql. It then showed up in my CONFIGURATION. Intersting. However, I can tell something's wrong because I can't force no account checkout... even though I have the exact same settings as my test server.

As for the rest of the plugins, I'm going to assume I can't actually access them properly either.

So, my question is how do we fix something like this? The files are there, so something else must be giving it all this confusion...

I'm thinking I could just remove the .sql traces of plugins and simply reinstall all my plugins. I just really need pagination, Fast and Easy Checkout, and Lightbox, really. No idea how I would do this though.

    Help would be appreciated.

    Oh God,

Important tip for those moving servers: keep the folders of all plugins you use. I did, and it has helped me in this situation. Still don't know why things didn't go smoothly, but I uploaded my important files (SEO URLs and FEC) and my admin recognized it. Still had major issues with FEC, but I simply edited CSS and the checkout files to my liking.

Obviously this situation is not ideal, but when you're working on a timeline and you can't spend days figuring the core issue, you gotta do what you gotta do, and that is to get the biatch up and running.

Sounds like you skipped copying a bunch of things over when you went to the new server.

The process is very simple: fresh new install on the server, tested and working without customizations, then copy over the database and files, replacing everything except the configure.php files. And update a path setting.

    All explained here: http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?...fferent-server

If you do indeed copy all the files and the database, and update the session path, then it will just work. No need to uninstall/reinstall addons etc.

Granted, the addons you mention are extremely intrusive so should definitely be handled with care. And lots of testing.

The tutorial is very good and I followed it exactly. However, as you said, I had too many plugins that caused problems during the move. I not only had Fast Easy Checkout and SEO URLs, but also Easy Populate and Excel Populate, Click-To-Hide Menu, CSS/JS Loader, and ReCaptcha, some of which were already giving me issues on the original server. Yikes.
