Animated .gif vs. jQuery
I have a flash slideshow on my main page, and I need to update it and get rid of the flash. I need a scrolling slideshow, so I made a test animated .gif, inserted it and it seems to work okay on different browsers on my mac/pc/ipad/iphone, but am I making a mistake? Should I build this slideshow in jQuery?
I would like it to be a smooth scrolling slideshow, like a ticker tape, with no starts and stops, and I can't accomplish that with an animated .gif. in a perfect world it would smoothly roll from one picture to the next and that is going to have to be built in jQuery, but jQuery looks so complicated, I don't know if I will be able to build it.
I looked through mods, I'm not finding any smooth scrolling mods, the ones I'm seeing are also starting and stopping between pictures. Am I missing one that would accomplish this?
Can someone give me thoughts on this. I'm on the fence with that animated .gif. I know what I need to do, I need to build this in jQuery, but egads it looks complicated!
I inserted a slideshow on my site, just to see how the animated .gif would work, this isn't what I'll be using, this was just old graphics I had in a file, but I needed to test it. You can view it at bigredworkweardotcom.
Thanks for any help you can give me!
I DID IT, I actually built a working cart, with the help of so many of you, Stevesh, Schoolboy, RescoCCC, to name a few. I just take one bite out of the elephant at a time and try to keep my sense of humor...
