Can't put "é" "à" caracters in products description

Hello,

i'm running zencart 1.39.h, my hosting is a "GANDI simple hosting". Two weeks ago, GANDI made an upgrade to MySQL 5.5.24-6-log and Version PHP: 5.4.4-4 (Zend: 2.4.0).

Since this upgrade, i can write specials characters like à,é,etc... When i write those characters, preview is ok, and when i valid, the description box is empty...

I've tried many and many things to solve this issue, I don't know what to do ...

If i write normal characters, everything is ok.

Please, could you help me !

Hi, think you for help. But my provider tell me to use UTF-8. I've tried a fresh install of zen 1.5.1, and it works, I can put "é" or "à" characters. So I do a comparison between the two BDD. The 1.5.1 BDD shows ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 AUTO_INCREMENT=180 ; The 1.3.9h BDD shows ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=644.

How can I change my 1.3.9h BDD to become ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 ? cause I think it's the problem.
