    Default Forgot admin password

I have 3 test sites on a local machine that haven't been used in a while so I have therefore forgotten the admin password. I was able to get into phpmyadmin to examine the Admin table and confirmed the user id but the password is encrypted. Is there anyway of recovering those passwords? I never got mercury mail configured properly to send the email out.

    ANy help is appreciated.

    thanks in advance

No, you cannot reverse-engineer the password.

You can replace it with a new one though. See the FAQs for instructions ... a simple search for "admin password" will give you the article you need.

Thanks, DrByte, I found this sql script in the FAQ but when I went to log in I got the following error message:
"There was a security error when trying to login."

I am assuming that is because 1.5 has the password restrict of at least 7 characters with a number according to the faq I found the username is Admin and password is admin which if I am correct is too short.

Did I find the wrong FAQ, remember that this is for a local test site I am now using to test modules

No, that's a wrong assumption. The "reset" is intentionally too short, partly so you can never be allowed to continue using it without setting it to something safer. The length of the password in that FAQ has nothing to do with the error you mentioned.

That appears either when the account is locked because you've used the wrong admin password too many times and need to wait for the 30-minute-lockout to expire, or if your site has a problem enabling sessions properly. The latter could be caused by having made alterations to code on the login screen or installing old altered code from old admin templates etc.

Thank you Drbyte, it looks like with al the attempts I made at logging in, I did get locked out just went back in and was able to log in to the admin.

Now I have a way to test modules being in one of my other posts I installed 3 mods without a database backup and lost the entire site. Yes I now know, never install a mod without a backup of everything.
