Zone Rates make a totally weird calculation of postage cost

Hi there, the strangest thing happens when I try to implement postage cost based on Zone Rates in my Zen Cart. For instance for the UK I have these values listed in Modules>shipping>zone rates: 500:10,1900:30 (I'm in Europe = grams & euros, so up to 500 gram it's 10 EUR, up to 1900 gram = 30 EUR). But when I put 3 items each weighing 250gr each in the basket (so a total of 750 grams, which shows correct in the shopping basket and should prompt 30 EUR postage total) and checkout with a UK/GB address, the postage is calculated at 150 EUR! Zen Cart totally ignores the fact that the total weight of 750 should push the postage cost into the 2nd postage rate of 30 EUR, and instead comes up with this ridiculous fee of 150. I've been filling out different weight/cost values in the Zone Rates module, and it seems Zen Cart only refers to the lowest tarif (in this case: 10 EUR for a weight of max. 500gr) and charges 1 "lowest tarif unit" per 50 gr. So if the total weight is 750 grams, as in this case, it seems to "think": 750 grams, is (750/50) = 15 units, so 15 x 10 = 150. This calculation is consistent with other values (if I change it into 500:20 the result is 300 EUR). I have no clue at all why Zen Cart makes this calculation. I've checked the modules, the weight listed with each item, even tried to look into the core files, to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated!

Check your settings in Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ...

As you are using the weight in grams, you need the Maximum weight to be: 5000 (or something higher to work with your zone rates) and you want the Tare Rates to both be set to 0:0 ...

See if changing those fixes this issue for you ...

Allow me to call you a genius, it works! It was set at 50, so that's why he based the postage cost on multiples of 50 then, right, it being the "max. allowed"? (although I had expected Zen Cart to prompt some kind of error message instead doing some weird mathematical free styling). I was already looking into osCommerce solutions, trying to figure this out has been seriously detrimental to my health. Thanks again for the quick and right on the mark reply, much appreciated!
