    Default PP misleading error messages

10764 This transaction cannot be processed at this time. Please try again later. - This transaction cannot be processed at this time. Please try again later.
The above error occurs when an invalid expiration date is entered for a card in Website Payments Pro. It's not user friendly to be giving a misleading error like that, so assuming that Paypal will never fix this bug, is it possible for me to display some other error to the customer when this type of thing occurs? I would rather display some kind of general "card declined" error and suggest they double check the card info and maybe call the issuing bank.

Right, I saw that thread, but the posters in that thread don't seem to know anything. I tested checkout a few times with my own credit card, entering valid and invalid expiration dates, and that error was the result when I entered the wrong year for the expiration date. That's why I'm asserting that the error is due to an invalid expiration date.

It's further supported by the fact that I have received this error or similar errors when entering customer credit card info in PP Virtual Terminal and it turns out the customer gave me the wrong expiration date or CSC code.

The best approach would be to log a ticket with PayPal and get *them* to fix things so that the correct error code/message is returned. www.paypal.com/mts

Paypal will not change this. They won't even give sensical error messages when I'm using Virtual Terminal and a card isn't accepted. All their errors are cryptic and designed not to give the merchant any information other than the payment was not received. So I'm still experiencing this problem.
