two "per item" shipping rates based on type of product

client wants:

$8.00 flat rate on most items
$5.00 flat rate on pens and cards

I can see where the Table Rate shipping module handles by weight (which would be my preference), total # of items, and total price, but I don't see how to assign specific shipping per type of product. Can this be done?

What if the customer's cart has some "pens and cards" but some other items, too? How much is the flat-rate then?

Hide weight from customer view

Most items assign say 100lbs

Pens & cards say 1lb

Use table rate and the weight option

This will handle most pen & card orders
