Default 500 Internal Service Error After Restoring DB

    Howdy Folks,

I've got v1.5.1 running successfully on a development machine and today I moved it up to the server.

I did a fresh install of v1.5.1, saved the two config.php files, restored my backup DB and overwrote all the servers ZC files with those of my development machine. I uploaded the two config.php files and now I get the dreaded 500 error.

The weird thing is the ZC was running fine with the demo data. This makes me think it is a problem between my SQL server and the host's:

    Mine:
    Apache/2.2.17 (Win32) mod_ssl/2.2.17 OpenSSL/0.9.8o PHP/5.3.4 mod_perl/2.0.4 Perl/v5.10.1
    MySQL client version: mysqlnd 5.0.7-dev - 091210 - $Revision: 304625 $
    PHP extension: mysql

    Theirs:
    MySQL
    Server: Localhost via UNIX socket
    Server version: 5.5.23-55
    Protocol version: 10
    User: <USERNAME>@localhost
    MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)

    Web server
    cpsrvd 11.32.4.13
    MySQL client version: 5.5.23
    PHP extension: mysql

Could this be it? If so, how to make the old data compatible with the new DB?

    thanks,
    erix

The server has system logs that explain in detail exactly what's triggering their 500 INTERNAL SERVER ERROR responses.

Well my wonderful host fixed it for me!

"We will be happy to assist you with this.

When looking at the files for http://*****.com/new_store/ and http://*****.com/new_store/***** we found many files and folders had been set to use 777 permissions.

We deeply apologize, but the highest chmod permissions we allow are 755. This means you can read, write, and execute on the file, but others can only read and execute. For the security of the server, we can't allow a file viewable to the web to offer write permissions from visitors of the the website. You may want to use chmod 755 for any file.

However, your php files will need to be set to 644 permissions to properly run. After changing these permissions we had a new error message with http://*****.com/new_store/*****:

WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again.

During further investigation we found that the database user *****_admin had not been given permission for the *****_zencart database. We went into the cPanel and granted all permissions for the *****_admin user to use this database to resolve this error. Both of your pages have now been restored and we have attached a screen-shot of http://*****.com/new_store/***** from our location."
This within 60 minutes of asking my question.
