Importing a client database from 1shoppingcart

I've been a 1shoppingcart customer for ten years and I've had it with them. I'm currently paying $105 a month for LESS than what I used to pay $29.99 a month (despite what they claim now mass e-mail service used to be no extra charge).

I have a client database of over 11,000. I'm sure there have been people who have switched from 1shoppingcart to Zen Cart in the past. Does anyone have advice on the most painless way to switch over my client database?

Not familiar with the DB structure of 1shoppingcart

I've never tried to take a copy of a 1shoppingcart database, so I can only comment in terms of the process one would follow:

You'll need to first determine whether you can even extract that data in the first place.

Then you'll need to massage the data into a form that can be imported into the corresponding Zen Cart database tables. Customer data is spread across three tables: customers, customers_info, and address_book. And address_book data is cross-linked to records in the zones and countries tables in addition to being cross-linked back to the customers table.
So, that will probably involve some significant spreadsheet manipulation tricks before doing the actual import of the data using a suitable program for accessing the raw database.
And all your customers' passwords will need to be reset manually by the customer before they will be able to login. They can of course use the Forgotten Password link on the login page to have a new password emailed to them.

1shoppingcart lets you export your client database as a CSV file. 1shoppingcart doesn't have customer passwords, so that part is a none issue.

That plugin would be handy for inputting people who placed an order over the phone, but not for 11,000.

Bulk Upload your mailing list / customers to your Zen Cart by creating a simple CSV.

Of course, the latest version says it is for v1.3.9, so it may not work for v1.5.x without updating some code.

1shoppingcart doesn't have customer passwords, so that part is a none issue.

It becomes an issue if you migrate to ZenCart which does have customer passwords

I'm sure you could work out a temporary "dummy" password to put in the db until the customer resets it for themself.

Yes, and there's a script floating around the forums here that does that. I posted it a couple years ago when someone asked similarly.
