1.51 with azienda template and cowoa installed.
I just tried to install the stock by attributes module.
I first tried to install the wrong sql file - the update versus the new - and got an error message. I checked my store and all was fine so I figured it didn't break anything. Then I installed the correct sql file.
Next I checked that none of the files that the readme said were modified or overwritten had already been modified or overwritten by my template or the cowoa mod I also saved copies of all these files "just in case."

I changed the admin folder to my admin folders name, and changed the YOUR template to my template name and uploaded all the folders/files.

Then I went to visit my store and got:
The service is overloaded or offline. Please try again later.

I tried the backend - I could get into admin. I tried FTP and control panel and I could get to my server.
So I went back in with ftp and one by one I replaced all the overwritten files. Deleting the ajax folder did nothing. Replacing the two admin files didn't do anything, but somewhere in replacing the overwritten files in the includes folder it all came back.

I tried looking at the server logs but it's a shared server. I checked the last 5,000 entries and nothing for my ip showed up.

Any ideas? I'd really like to get a stock-by-attributes mod running before I go live in a week or so.
