Update Total when Shipping options selected

Hi, just wondering if there is a way to have my checkout page update when the shipping options are selected.

If you see the image below, I have selected Walk In at a cost of £1 (for testing purposes) and it still says free shipping in the order total. How can I fix this?

Check the settings in Modules, Order Totals ... and click on Shipping ot_shipping ...

Do you have Free Shipping enabled for some amount?

Check the settings in Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ... do you have the setting set for the 0 Weight to mean Free Shipping set to true?

Is the Product set to Virtual Product or have an attribute with a Download on it?

Yes, I have it installed and I do have free shipping as a default option which is what I want. It's just that, in case they want to choose a faster shipping method I want it to add on to the total, it doesn't do this.

I have enabled FREE SHIPPING in the shipping modules.

The Modules ... Order Totals ... Shipping ot_shipping for the Free Shipping is only meant when you want that to be the *only* shipping module based on the Order Total ...

So, if that is not what you mean, you need to turn that off ...

If you have 0 weight means Free Shipping turned on, then any product without weight or a combination of Products without weight, will *only* offer Free Shipping until a Product is added to the cart that has weight ...

If you want Free Shipping based on either weight or items or total, you would use the Free Options freeoptions as this will run at the *same* time as the other shipping methods and not blank them out ...

The other thing to check is if you have more than one shipping module and are using Sort Order on 1 or more shipping modules, then you need an unique Sort Order on each shipping module and *none* can be set to 0 ...

Products marked as Virtual will always be Free Shipping, when they are the *only* Product(s) in the cart ...

Products marked as Always Free Shipping will always be Free Shipping, when they are the *only* Product(s) in the cart ...

Thank you Ajeh, you cleared up a few things for me regarding shipping modules, however this did not fix the problem I am having with auto-updating totals. If you see below, it still does not update when an alternative shipping method is selected.



Is this standard behaviour? Would I need a mod to update the totals for me to include the new shipping price?

What version Zen Cart?

Clean install or an upgrade?

Currently, what shipping module(s) do you have installed and when you click on them, what do you see in the right panel?

Are any of the shipping modules that you are *not* using not have a red icon?

Do all the modules that you are using have a green icon, or if using a Zone on them a yellow icon?

Version 1.5.0 clean install. 2 shipping modules are enabled with green icons, all others have red icons by them.
I do have FEC installed, not sure if this has any effect? Are you saying this is not normal behaviour and that the shipping option should update in the totals when clicked?

Just to be clear, when 'flat rate' is selected, im pretty sure it does add £4 to the final total but only when they click confirm order, and the customer does not see it. I just need the page to update the shipping method and cost when selected so the customer can see the changes.

But the normal Zen Cart behavior is you pick a shipping module and when you check Continue, you will see that in the totals on the checkout_payment and checkout_confirmation and if you go back to the checkout_shipping you will see it is selected ...

So you think that because these pages are combined it will not be able to update visually?
