Default setup of pricing by attribute?

I am attempting to add prcing by attributes. I have a software product, let's say it costs $1.20, and I want to offer an educational discount of -$0.40, ie it's only $0.80 to edu users. Would like to offer a checkbox saying "I am an educational user" that the customer may check to get that price.

Following Ajeh's remarks here: http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.p...ributes-HOW-TO, I tried the following to try out the setup process:

    1) Admin menu | Catalog | Catalog/products
1a)go to the existing category "software"
    1b)define new product 'try2'
    2) Admin menu | Catalog | Option Name Manager
2a)define a new option 'edudisc3' with an Option Type 'checkbox'
2b)click Insert to add 'edudisc3' to list of options
    3) Admin menu | Catalog | Attributes Controller
3a) Pick try2, click Display button, which makes the section below switch to 'try2'. That section notes 'no attribs defined for Product ID#4 try2'
3b) Pick edudisc3 from the list of Option Names below. There seems to be nothing in the matching Option Value list, however. Click Insert button anyway

At this point, what should I do? The try2 product display on the store page does NOT yet have any checkboxes. Am I going about all this the right way?

OK, I am guessing now that a dropdown might be a better type of option than a checkbox. My idea is to make a product with a dropdown. The dropdown would have two values, 'commercial' and 'educational', each with its own price (say, $1.20 and $.80). Discussion on these forums says that a dropdown can have 2 or more items on it.

I create a new option name 'edudisc6' in Option Name Manager and set it to type 'dropdown'. I then click EDIT to see an edit box. That would let me set the sort order, and change from dropdown to some other option, neither of which I want to do. Below that, it says
'NOTE: Rows, Display Size and Max Length are for Text Attributes Only:
    en: Comments: (test box)
Rows: (box, empty) Display Size (box, value=32) Maximum length: (box, value=32)'
    and etc.

But this is not a 'Text' type option, it's a 'dropdown' option. Should I add rows (default = 0) anyway? Is a dropdown some sort of text option after all?

IOW how do I establish two or more items in this dropdown? I will then need to associate dollar amounts with each item, but first I need items to associate, yes? Where's the interface for this?

OK, I finally found a quick, clear summary of how to do this, on Youtube:

video lets you see the necessary steps in their proper order. Highly recommended as an elementary lesson on how to price a product by attributes.
