Default download product - radio button choice

I created a product for a downloadable product. There is a choice for either an epub or kindle version. However both radio buttons show as chosen on the products page, even though "Default Attribute to be Marked Selected" is marked as 'no.'.

How do I have one or the other be a choice?

    Thanks for the help.

You want to make 1 Option name with 2 Option Values ...

I like to make a third Option Value for:
    Select your choice ...
    Sort Order 0
    Default YES
    Display Only YES

so that the customer has to intentionally choice the correct one for his/her needs ...

Thanks so much Linda! That worked - 1 Option Name & 2 Option Values.

My product page already says 'Please Choose' for some reason, so I didn't add a third Option Value.

Might think about adding that 3rd one as:
    Your selection ...
    Pick One ...
    Your Version ...
    etc. etc.

only because it really cuts down on incorrect orders based on customers who click and click and click without looking ...

So I made a third option value 'Select One Option Below'. I have the sort order as 0, Default YES, Display YES. The other 2 option values have a sort order of 10 & 20. So now on the products page the radio button next to the 3rd option value is selected, and the other 2 can be selected, so only one is selected. How do I make the 3rd option be value be the first on the list? Is that what you had in mind Linda? It seems more confusing to me, cuz now there are 3 radio buttons to choose from. I must not be understanding what you had in mind.

I've attached a screen shot to help clarify.

You have the right idea ...

The Option Values, when defined, allow for a Default Sort Order ...

You can also set, on a Product by Product basis the Sort Order of the Attributes ...

I usually use the Defaults to manage my sort orders and use them on all of my Option Values ... this then allows me to run a simple Update of Sort Orders for the whole Catalog so the Attributes are in a consistent order ...

You will see the 3 choices of radio buttons, but only 2 are allowed to be selected from when the customer adds the Product to the cart, as the 3rd one is marked Display Only and Default ... Display Only being the setting that stops that choice from allowing that Attribute from being selected when the Product is added to the cart ...

Sorry to be a bit of a slow learner here. I wish I understood half of what you just wrote!

I have the 3 option values with a sort order of 0, 10, 20. However they are appearing in reverse order and I don't know why? I wanted the 3rd option to say "Select One Version Below" but I can't figure out how to have it be the choice on top (first one of the 3).

Plus any of the 3 options are selectable. If someone picks "Select One Version Below" they get this message, " Please correct the following:
On the Option for: Manual Download You picked an Invalid Selection: Select One Version Above." Is that how it's supposed to work?

    Thanks again.

    That is correct ...

If they have selected the Attribute Option Value that is the "instructions" you do not want that added to the shopping cart, you want them to select one of the other two choices before adding to the cart so that they are either buying the Product with the Epub or the Kindle ...

As to the display order, check in the Attributes Controller this Product ... what do you see the Sort Orders listed as?

In the Configuration ... Product Info ... what setting do you see on the:
Products Info - Product Option Value of Attributes Sort Order
Sort order of Product Option Values of Attributes for Products Info
    0= Sort Order, Price
1= Sort Order, Option Value Name

    Hi Linda,

The Products Info - Product Option Value of Attributes Sort Order is as you suggested:
Sort order of Product Option Values of Attributes for Products Info
    0= Sort Order, Price
1= Sort Order, Option Value Name

Under the Attributes Controller I don't see 'sort order'. I do see 'order' which is part of prices and weights, but I don't think that's what you mean.

Under Option Values, I have the default order set to 0, 10, 20 but that doesn't seem to be working to change the order that is displayed.
