Commentics [Support Thread]

This plugin integrates 'Commentics' into your Zen Cart website. Commentics is a free and open source comments script with lots of features. It will allow your visitors to submit comments, rate products and subscribe to new comments via email and RSS, while it also helps with SEO by providing fresh and relevant content which can be marked up with 'Rich Snippets'.

Soon to be available in the plugins area.

How exactly does it not work? The author is not going to be able to help you without a lot more information about your specific situation.

Re: Commentics [Support Thread]

Hi
I have installed files and changed tpl to suite but it is still not working
I am trying to follow instructions
here
Optional
========
5. Zen Cart has quite a narrow centre column. I recommend a width of at least 1000px.

6. In the Commentics admin panel, go to Layout -> Comments -> Gravatar and change the size to 60.

but there are no admin files as far as I can see

Any help appreciated

Re: Commentics [Support Thread]

Hi,

The admin panel for Commentics is separate to the admin panel for Zen Cart.

When you install Commentics, it takes you to its admin panel straight after.

So, it sounds like maybe you didn't install Commentics?

Re: Commentics [Support Thread]

I was looking for something where I could pose a question/topic (on the main page) and receive responses, and then if I chose to, I could respond to that comment, and so on. Then a few days later, I could post another topic. Would Commentics be used for this purpose? If so are there any screen shots?

Thank you.

Re: Commentics [Support Thread]

Is there a site where we can see this in action? Sounds interesting.

Re: Commentics [Support Thread]

Hi,

@traytray Yes, you could use Commentics for this, although it depends on what you want to do with the previous topics. There can only be one instance of Commentics per page so to have a completely fresh topic you would need to delete the comments from the previous topic.

@SPH You can check out the script at commentics.org

Not an expert but the log file says that this mod is requiring commentics.php yet there is no such file in the download package. uninstall.

Re: Commentics [Support Thread]

The download package from here only contains the files to integrate Commentics with Zen Cart.

Step one in the installation instructions says to "Install Commentics".

I guess you skipped that step, otherwise you would have the file commentics.php at:
yourwebsite.com/comments/includes/commentics.php

Re: Commentics [Support Thread]

I have this mod working and it looks like it will be good.

I think the point some people are missing is that AS WELL AS installing the few files found in the Zencart plugin, users ALSO need to install the whole Commentics package available from http://www.commentics.org/ and set up a database for it to store the comments.

There are detailed and easy to follow instructions on the website.
