Default How to Add links to the NavMain Menu in storefront?

    Hello Forum,

I'm a new Zenner, making small template changes so as to familiarize myself as to how the Zen Cart works.
A change I want to make for instance, is to add a text hyperlink to the upper Navigation Menu where 'Home' and 'Log in' are.
I found this handy article: http://www.kerrinhardy.com/2010/01/0...u-in-zen-cart/
I performed the 5 prescribed steps but I can't seem to be able to add the link.
I can do it by modifying the tpl_header.php file in the template_default directory but that's not the way to do it.
The proper way to do it, it seems, is by the override method, which I supect, I'm not quite getting.
For instance, once I edited the above .php file, I'm supposed to save it to:
/includes/templates/CUSTOM/common/ (where CUSTOM represents the name of your current template folder)
That's the part I don't get because under my /includes/ folder I have:

    /YOUR_TEMPLATE/...
    /cherry_zen/...
    /classic/...
    /template_default/...

I thought that CUSTOM may have been the old moniker for YOUR_TEMPLATE and so I save the edited file there, but, as I said it's not working.
I also note that I have only 2 templates installed and available for selection in Admin, ie, cherry_zen and classic.
Should I then install the YOUR_TEMPLATE so that it's available for selection in Admin?

Thanks for any help in the right direction.

    Paul Nonnis.

Do you have the Cherry Zen template selected in admin ? If so, your edited tpl_header.php file would go in includes/templates/cherry_zen/common.

Generally, CUSTOM and YOUR_TEMPLATE mean the same thing.

Glad i found this! Made my latest change simple!!
One question though. I'm trying to add a banner below my header but would like it centered on the page.

    How do I center it?

We'll need to know exactly what you mean by 'banner'. In Zencart, a banner is an advertising image. A link to your site would help, too.

I guess banner was a poor choice of words. I got it from Paypal.
    Try this:
    seriousoffroadproducts.com

    Add to your stylesheet: #paypalcreditcardssidebox {text-align: center;}

Hit the link above and you'll see what I mean.

No, the code I posted goes in your stylesheet.css file.

There isn't a "paypalcreditcardssidebox" in my .css

The Ad/Banner is a script that is a simple cut and paste provided by Paypal.

The instructions on the PP site are simple enough.
select the box ad size, cut and paste onto your site, and that's all I did.

I have not made any changes to the css file.
