Top Category Link Landing Page

I started filling up this page and quickly realized this layout wasn’t going to work for me. My two top categories, Women’s Perfume and Men’s Cologne, each have a page like this when you click their link in the sidebox.

Big Problem. My products are searched primarily by product name, not manufacturer. I only have around 1800 products listed and I’ll have over 3,000. I can’t expect the customer to scroll down if they THINK the manufacturers name begins with an M.

I need to get rid of this page and instead have the same layout as the All Products page, but only for Women’s Products, and the Alpha Sorter drop down filter. Same for Men.

Is this getting into super complicated territory?

Not to someone who can write PHP code, I'd think, but there's no provision currently in Zencart for an alphabetical sort of subcategories.

One option would be to remove the subcategory images and just have text links.

I came up with a solution by adding alphabetical sub categories. I have two questions.

Can I have 4 images on this page, and maintain 3 across on all others? If so, how can I set that?

I'd like the font for the Alphabet to be a little larger. I can't pinpoint the place to do this using Firebug. Would you know where I can find that, and would it affect any other page(s)?

On this same page, the alphabet letters are in a very small font. I can't figure out where to find the font to increase the size. Can you help me find it and do you know if increasing the size would affect the font on other pages?

So you want 4 across for womens but 3 for mens??
That will take some custom coding

I was afraid of that. What about the font size for the alphabet letters? Can it be increased form Women's Perfume/Men's Cologne, without increasing font size elsewhere? Where might I find this code?

Normally, you could achieve the four per row with some clever CSS in a per-category stylesheet, but your template appears to have originally been built with something like Column Divider Pro which changes the div-based display to an HTML table. The number per row in that is not able to be changed with CSS.

Do you want to change the font size for only the alphabet letters while other category names in the same listing stay unchanged? That is not practical with CSS alone... though it may be possible with some long ugly brute-force style rules.
