categories image and description on first page only

I haven't been able to find the solution for limiting a categories image and description to the first page only, i.e. if your category contains 80 products, displayed 9 products per page, is there a way to have the category image and description only displayed on the first page (showing products 1-9) of your category?

Wanting to display instructive images and text for categories, like this:

http://www.fashionaccessoriz.com/scarves

But only displaying images and description once on the main category page, not throughout category navigation.
