    Default Sub-domain Admin access?

    Good morning everyone,

I am beginning on the path of duplicating our store for different brands and models of vehicles according to the automotive forums we sponsor and I am starting with one for the Ford Raptor pick up trucks. I have created the sub domain and duplicated the store in the database directory for that sub domain. No worries there.

The question I have is this. With the normal domain store I go to www.syntheticmotorsports.com/packmn to access the admin control panel. But the Sub domain is fordraptor.syntheticmotorsports.com so accessing the admin area in this fashion isn't working out.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thank you.

Assuming you have correct entries in the two configure.php files for the new store, and assuming you've kept the same admin folder name for both the old and the new stores, you should be able to access the new store admin by pointing your browser to

    http://fordraptor.syntheticmotorsports.com/packmn

Having said that, for better security, I would actually use different admin foldernames for each of the two stores. eg
    http://www.syntheticmotorsports.com/packmn and
    http://fordraptor.syntheticmotorsports.com/newadmin/

If things don't work as they should, then double and triple check those configure.php files, because that's where most things seem to go wrong.

Oh. Final tip. When setting up for something like this, do yourself a BIG favour and get rid of any .htaccess files that perform any type or redirection or URL rewriting. They *will* cause you headaches and problems.

    Cheers
    Rod

    Thank Rod,

You confirmed what I was thinking already. I need to double check my config files, I have made all the other changes you recommended and it wasn't working.

Thank you for the response! Have a great day!

That was what did it. I had an error in the config files. Once edited PROPERLY, it worked fine. Thanks again for the reply!
