We have a busy website in the UK. It's www.silkblooms.co.uk so it's on a .co.uk domain. We have plans to take our site into the international market, satarting initially with www.silkblooms.ie which we've recently taken on.
We would like to copy the same site files onto a new hosting account, but we'll have the main site text changed to suit the Irish market. We would be selling the same products though, so we would need both sites to share the same SQL Database. Would this be possible?
We'e not tried it yet as I want to see if anyone here has had experience with this and can maybe offer some advice? I've been thinking about it and some things that spring to mind are (a) currency differences and (b) state names. I'm sure there will be many other things I've not even thought of but I need to know if this is a possibility or not.
Obviously, some site files would be different, the contact us page, the phone number, the SSL, the shipping info page. etc... but I just need to know if it's possible to have two sites sharing the same database, but trading in different currencies with different fields for the customer signup (Irish state dropdown menus).
