Default CURL Error - Yahoo hosting

I am trying to install a site on a Yahoo hosted domain.

    I get the curl error:
CURL requires SSL support. Please notify webmaster or hosting company. 77 => Problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?)

I have never had this issue before. Any suggestion on how to correct? I searched and found different answers for the same questions. I called yahoo and they very helpful (not) person told me that I needed to create an SSL folder and put everything with the store inside that folder and it will all work like magic. That is not the answer that will fix this issue, I don't believe.

    Details:
Error: CURL requires SSL support. Please notify webmaster or hosting company. 77 => Problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?)
    Hosting: Yahoo Small Business
    Site: 1.5x (latest download - downloaded 11/24)
    Software: Filezilla, Crimson editor
