    Default No Upgrade Database Option

    Hi

I have been following your upgrade instructions religiously at http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?140 and everything is great, however, on the System Requirements page I get no button asking me if I would like to Upgrade the password.

    Step-by-step:
Back up your site from the server as well as the copy on your computer.
    Backup your database
Got all of these off the existing website and

Create a new directory and copy your site into it
Then create a new database and load your old database in it
Next, change the two configure.php files to utilize the new directory and database
Got all of these working on my XAMPP local host on my PC

This way ... when you attempt to upgrade you are "practicing" to see where the problems, if any will happen
Make sure all appears to be working on your temp site.
It did perfectly (so at this point I have exactly what is currently working online functioning on my XAMPP server

Now load the "new" version files to your new temp directory (from latest downloaded ZIP)
if say my website is on localhost/myoldwebsite:

my new website is on localhost/myoldwebsite/mynewone/zc_install

From here I just get a normal setup screen. On the system inspection (prerequisites) screen at the bottom it warns me that I am not in Upgrade mode.

Please could anyone advise me what I am doing wrong? This is my first upgrade to 1.5.1 and obviously I would like to get it right.

    Thanks

Try just installing with a new db the 1.5.1 files

Then use phpmyadmin and import your old db into the new db

    Then re-run zc_install

    Hi Kobra

I have tried that and it just opts for a new install. Its not picking up the database at all - it just rides over the top of it.

    Hi Kobra

Sorry for the confusion I did list out my step by step instructions at the start but when it doesn't work, I just start all over again and go through everything thoroughly.

I did what you suggested earlier, with the new database and importing the old info in there, but I have tried it again and it doesn't come up with the upgrade. All it does is override the imported database with even offering the upgrade option.

As I have said before and going through other suggestions on this forum, The site was online, the copy of the site is working on my http://localhost, (the db user and password are different but as I said they are working fine under the new db user/pw), and there are no table prefixes

Please any help is appreciated Its probably something very simple but I have no idea what it is.

    Hi dharrison,

Assuming you've installed the new version in a new folder and it's functioning, but you can't get the upgrade option to appear you may want to try this:

*Open up phpMyadmin and navigate to the new database you created for your new install
*Select all and 'Drop' all tables on your new database
*import your backed up database from your live store to your new database location
*ftp the zc_install folder that you deleted earlier back into your new install folder
*open up......zc_install in your browser and you should now have the 'Upgrade' option available.

    Hope this works for you.

    Hi Kobra

Its a bit of an embarrassing mistake to make but I was trying to make a new folder and added the 1.5.1 files there (no wonder it just installed as normal)

However I have just tried it again and I get the following errors:

SKIPPED: Cannot drop index page_accessed on table admin_activity_log because it does not exist.
SKIPPED: Cannot drop index access_date on table admin_activity_log because it does not exist.
SKIPPED: Cannot add index idx_page_accessed_zen to table admin_activity_log because it already exists.
SKIPPED: Cannot add index idx_access_date_zen to table admin_activity_log because it already exists.
I started off by checking both the 1.3.9 to 1.5.0 and the 1.5.0 to 1.5.1 upgrade and it did the same thing. However now I have just tried the 1.3.9 to 1.5.0 upgrade and I still get this issue.

    Please help.
