Changing my current template

Hi, I currently use a template and have my store set up, www.customprintablecards.com. But, I saw another template I would like to change it to. How do I change to a new template and keep my current content and product? Is it possible? Reason why I ask is I installed the new template, changed over to it, but none of my current products show up when I do that so I switched back to the old template. I know I will need to make chages to new template docs, but I thought I would at least see my products.

When you selected this new template did you also select
admin > tools > layout boxes > reset

No I did not. I will try that and come back if I see any issues after. Thank you. I forgot about that one little tid bit.

how do you install a new template? just load it onto the server over the existing files? i'm thinking about changing my website as well...thanks.

There is normally a "readme" file or "install" file that outlines installation
Most assume that you know how to use FTP
