Cant find the blinking thing. just an irritating box in the corner. if i was using html bang gone. dont know what to do. i have tried different template but still there. may just delete and start again. i dont think i have a back up from before it appeared.

Could be a number of things - including a "hack", but that is quite remote...
Open the html_header.php file of your apple_zen template.
I think there is a LETTER SPACE occurring just before the opening <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
Just put your cursor next to the opening < and hit the BACKSPACE key.
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
