Yes.... last night I created another test product and this time used Product-Free Shipping instead of Product-General. This time the Free Shipping image showed in the new test product.

What I noticed also was that when I create a product in Product-Free Shipping... my MSRP module does not work

You need to check the customizations for MSRP and see what changes were made to the Product General modules that were not made to the Product Free Shipping modules ...

On the Product General products where the Free Shipping icon is not showing, does the icon show on the product _info page?

Have you some URLs to a few Products that are Always Free Shipping where the Free Shipping icon is not showing that we could perhaps peek at?
