message stack error

Hi,
I am having a Chirstmas problem here!!!
The area in which the error message for wrong or not valid coupon code suddenly became a slim red line may be 5 px high and nothing can be read in it.
I do not know if I did something to the file controlling this, I probably did, but only now I am testing for coupons therefore only now I am noticing the problem.
Can someone tell me what to check? Which is the file that controls the height of the message stack error? I tryed css but the settings for message stack error are equal to the the original css file.
