Blank screen

I'm trying to follow the directions for doing an upgrade while keeping my current site active. I created a subfolder on my host: www.website.com/upgrade151 I uploaded a copy of the ver. 1.5.1 into and extracted it. The extracted folder I renamed "files"
When I go to www.website.com/upgrade151/files I get a blank screen. What am I doing wrong or not doing?

You might want to extract the zip file to the root as it will create a directory named zen-cart-v1.5.1-full-fileset-09182012. You can then rename that directory to upgrade151. Then start the upgrade process at www.website.com/upgrade151

Thanks, did it, got the "hello, thank you loading zen-cart" screen. I think this is where I may have messed up last time. What should I do next now that I'm on that screen?

It appears that it was something with my database copying and transfer that has been causing a lot of the issues I've been seeing with the upgrade process. I'm pointing this out because I'm sure I'm not the first or last who will run into these issues.
