red flag admin/login.php page totally blank - cannot log in

Hi - I have read and actioned all the points in the FAQ.

domain/store/admin/login.php is showing up totally blank so I cannot log in (page source also shows a totally blank page) - there is no 404 error.
    domain/store/admin/ shows a blank page
domain/store/ resolves to the store as it should

I have set up a store as domain/store - the store was originally in the root. I installed a new ZC (same version) in folder /store/ then copied the store from the root and copied that (everything) into the new installation and then copied existing db into new db - the store works fine. I have checked both configure.php files for accuracy and ensuring https addresses are the same. I have also run fix_cache_key.php and cleared browser cache and even rebooted system.

I figure maybe there is something I copied over from the root store to new installation that has caused this - any ideas? domain is http://www.dazzlers.net.au

Any and all assistance is appreciated.

    cheers,
    Mike

My first thought, is that there is still something not updated in the new store/YOUR_ADMIN/includes/configure.php file that is not up-to-date. Is it possible for you to show that file omiitting things like your database name, database password, database path, and the admin path name, etc... So that we can see what else may be going on?

The other thought is that perhaps you had hard coded something into the code of the old program before copying it over, though I think you mentioned trying a fresh install into the new directory? But it looks like you said you setup a blank version, then copied over it with your existing version? I don't recall that being the method described to move one's store which is basically what you are doing, though at the moment making a copy for some reason... Please check the FAQs on doing this, and do it as described, not just willy-nilly. It will save you time...

Couple more things, blank page, error log (in cache directory for your version).
Also may be that not all files fully got copied, depends on method of ftp, etc... So that could be another reason that page is blank. Also check host error logs, may be something there as well.

    Many Thanks mc (etc.)

I fixed the problem (sometimes I amaze myself )

After reading your response from which I gained some insight, I deleted the admin folder and loaded a new 'virgin' copy from the ZC install copy I have in my drive then just loaded the configure.php file and ..... BINGO!!

In moving the store from root to a folder I treated it like moving to different server (mainly because I didn't know how else to do it :) ) and followed the procedure in FAQ's for this (have done it many times with server moves for various reasons). - if there is an easier way I'd appreciate a heads up - I may wish to do this for another site as well. Problem was that the admin folder was corrupt in the first place as you had eluded to.

Again it was great that you responded in so much detail - it was a huge help.

    thanks, Mike

That last part (virgin admin panel) is one other thing that I sometimes suggest to get a full quick (re)start. any previously installed plugins though need to have their portion(s) installed into the admin panel to bring it back to the way it was. That said, not sure why sticking around with an older version instead of upgrading, though perhaps this is part of trying to figure that out.

Perhaps the procedure was followed; however, the description of that procedure did not seem to match what is expected... Easier way is the way that has been written out... Any other shortcut is likely to lead to some sort of problem.
