help question From multiple Option Names and Attributes allow user to select one attribute only

    Hello,

I'm setting up a tire store. Each tire comes in different sizes and I would like to group them (option names) by rim size - 15", 16" etc...

Client would only pick 1 size from a corresponding drop down. But when client tries to add to cart yellow message comes up

    Please correct the following:
On the Option for: Rim Size 15" You picked an Invalid Selection: Select Size

I've tried to play around with Attributes Display Only/Required/Default in different variations with no luck

Is there a way to allow only one attribute selected and the others not to show up in the shopping cart?

You need to add "None" to each selection as a choice

Kobra, Thank you, is there a way now for that not to show up in the Shopping cart?

Lets say client selects Rim Size 15" - 205/55/15
and nothing for Rim Size 16" - None

Both of those entries will show up in the shopping cart

    Rim Size 15" - 205/55/15
    Rim Size 16" - None

What do I need to change so only
    Rim Size 15" - 205/55/15
    shows up during checkout?

What you are trying to do relates to attribute dependancy, and this is not possible in zencart. People who have achieved a degree of dependancy have had to virtually re-construct the way attributes work and function. It can be complex and detailed... and expensive.

attribute dependancy is a mechanism by which selectors in attribute "2" are dependant on what was first selected in attribute "1"

You have a couple of options:

    1. Split the tyres into separate PRODUCTS - those that fit a 15 inch rim, and those that fit a 16 inch rim. Then, you just need a dropdown for the tyre profiles, because the rim size has already been selected.

    2. If the PROFILES are the same for both 15 and 16 inch rims, then combine those into one OPTION NAME... Rim Size... where the selection OPTION VALUES are:-

Please select a rim size... (Made DISPLAY ONLY, and DEFAULT OPTION)
    15 inch
    16 inch

Then, your SECOND OPTION NAME is titled... Profiles... where the selection values are:-

Please select a profile... (Made DISPLAY ONLY, and DEFAULT OPTION)
    195/70/
    205/50/
    205/55/
    205/60/
    255/60/

Schoolboy, Thank you! That's a nice approach.

If I was to leave it as is - is there a way to modify Shopping cart page not to show attributes that were not selected?

If attribute is "none" then don't display it in shopping cart and during Checkout?
