Images are distorted

I have read through the threads and unable to figure out why all images are now distorted.

I read that setting either the height or width to zero would fix the problem as long as proptorional images and calculate were turned ON.

However... when i set anything to Zero, the image appears as a thin line.

I also tried turing the proportional OFF, but makes no difference. also setting the parameters as percentages as opposed to fixed valuse - that also made no difference

This is a new problem, that has happened since a recent upgrade, unfortunately the programmers village is flooded and he has intermittent power problems, so I am trying to figure this one out myself.

Your images don't seem distorted here in IE8 or FF.

I am using IE9 and they are very distorted, very strange...

does anyone have any experience with this problem, images are distorted on both firefox and IE9 - much worse on IE9

Yes, those are distorted here, too, mainly because you're taking an image that's 281 X 400 and squeezing it into a 100 X 100 box. Zencart has no way of knowing that you want to crop the image when it resizes them. One way to fix this would be to make sure the aspect ratio of your images are the same as the ratio of the setting for them in admin. Another way would be to install and use the Image Handler mod.

So is there no way to have them just shrink proportionally, this is a new problem, I had someone re-design our site and now this is an issue, we have installed the image handler, but it still does not work the way it used to. The programmer I hired can't seem to see the problem with his browser, but on all our computers we have this distortion issue.

Load you page and right click on an image then select view image info

The path to your image is "/images/07silicon_balls.jpg" if image handler were being used then it would be more like
/bmz_cache/3/3753abe62df0cb0945fa17666d55a990.image.300x225.jpg

Also try in the admin > config > images > Small Image Width > set to "blank"
or
admin > config > images > Small Image Height > set to "blank"

Also check if in your admin configuration => images => IH resize images is set to yes other wise IH doesn't do anything.
