Shopping cart totals outsite folder

My shop is based in /products/ but I was to display the shopping cart in my index file,

If you see here: http://kitchenwarehouseltd.com/products/

you see the shopping cart in the top right,

I need to put this shopping cart on the http://kitchenwarehouseltd.com page.

As this is based outside the zencart page im not too sure how?

OK... well you are confusing the idea of DIRECTORIES with PAGES...

Firstly... there are no "pages" in zencart. The "pages" are generated dynamically and are built up on-the-fly by the system, depending on what actions (links) a visitor to the site clicks on.

Your site has been set up inside a SUB-FOLDER called "products".

The MAIN SITE is not zencart - but plain old HTML, and you are guiding visitors to the site by hard-coded links. Once they click one of these, they are actually in zencart (in the /products/ subfolder).

If you want the site to reside in the ROOT of your server account, you need to MOVE EVERYTHING THERE and this may require that you REMOVE the original HTML site. (It will have no purpose or value once ZC is moved).

There are tutorials on how to MOVE sites from a sub-folder to the ROOT folder.

I think I may have worded my first post terribly, Sorry! Let me try again.

I have my zen-cart installed in the /products/ directory. I have just put the shopping cart totals in the header at the top right of the page.

I want to replicate this on the server index page which is outside the zen-cart directory. as it is outside the zen-cart directory im not sure how it would load the information, if it even could?

Any ideas how I could make this work?

This will not work because of SESSION ID issues. Once a shopper is outside of your zencart setup they are likely to lose their session ID. As the cart contents are user-specific, it all ties in with their session.

You would be better off moving your zencart installation to the ROOT folder, and you should abandon that HTML site. zencart is designed to BE the site.

By having it structured the way you've got it presents a load of issues, including Google indexing, so why not just move it to the Root folder and have it behave the way it was designed to behave?

I agree! The only problem was convincing the clients that it was a logical step. As it isnt possible to have the shopping cart totals on that page they are wiling to get rid of the HTML page now

My only worry is that I dont want to break any links as I am using CEON URI mappings other than this I think its what im going to be doing
