Home page products display change to category

Hi,

I've recently installed a slideshow on my site. Before the slideshow I had the homepage open with a category, but now it's the actual homepage since I would like to display the slideshow.

Below the slideshow the products are listed. I would like that section below the slideshow to display the category. Is there any way to do this. Or maybe somehow sort the products listings so that they show specific items that I want displayed. Right now every time I refresh the page different items pop up there randomly.

The products showing on your home page are you 'new products'. You can go into your admin/configuration/index listing via your admin panel, and turn off 'Show New Products On Main Page' - change setting to '0'.

In your admin/configuration/layout settings, turn on Categories - Always Show on Main Page - change setting to '1'

Hi soxophoneplayer,

I changed the Show New Products On Main Page to 0 which turned off products display after the slideshow.

When I went to admin/configuration/layout settings, turn on Categories - Always Show on Main Page; this was already set to 1 and still nothing showed up.

Is there a step I'm missing? If I set open home page with category then it takes out the slideshow and goes straight to the category page.

What is your setting for Main Page - Opens with Category ? "0" will show all top cats.

My setting for Main Page is blank. When I put 0 it shows this: "Congratulations! You have successfully installed your Zen Cart™ E-Commerce Solution." and takes out the slide show. Doesnt effect the products that display below.

Any ideas how I can change the products displayed below slide show to a category?
