I have disabled all banners, yet banners still appear

I got the templates from zen-cart-power.net/zen-cart-free-templates.html
.. but I already replaced the.jpg with something else as an interim solution.

I have one more question.. when you hover over my new JPEGs.. there are messages there from the old images. They say: "Discover your savings" and "free shipping". Which file do these "live" in, and is it as simple as removing them to stop these hover messages? Thanks!

they're the ALT tags for the images. try searching for those words with the developers toolkit in your admin, it'll lay somewhere in your custom template files.
