Cart Bombing Between Shipping Selection and Payment

This is kind of a big one, everything was going along beautifully and now:

I have orders that cannot be paid for, I can't even seem to push them out of the cart and into an invoice.

Help desperately needed and appreciated!

Cart goes off the rails at checkout_shipping transitions to next page, produces a blank, white page and pointer shows an endless loading cursor.

Okay, I am finding files in the /cache directory, nothing worthwhile was found in /logs. I'm not seeing anything that looks like an error. Perhaps, I am not understanding what I am looking at.

Can someone help me, please?

BTW, I turned on the strict error reporting and on the white page, it reveals nothing.

Sounds like a coding error in something you've changed or added.

So, that begs the question: If it was all perfectly functional but suddenly stopped working, what did you change?

I rebuilt it in only 22 hours BUT two of the modules are showing on the configuration list but their configuration pages have only column headers and no values to set. I went into the database and think that I found the problem but before I muck things up wanted to ask the question should:

configuration_group.configuration_group_id= admin_page.page_params?

I am seeing some isolated drifting and think that this may be the problem.
