Default Save / Restore - Admin Settings

While browsing the forum, I remember seeing a thread or a plugin to save and restore all Admin's variable settings.

I have been looking for days now and I can't find it. Did I see it in my dreams?

I would appreciate a lead, If anyone knows where it is?

Were you thinking of Search Configuration Keys?

One of the best mods ever IMHO. Should be built in.

    As with this one:

    These are useful plugin also.

What I am looking for is a to save all the values for different menu drop downs in admin area (ie: Configuration, Catalog, Modules & etc).

Values that configures the whole site.

Quick 'n' dirty method. Use a tool such as phpMyadmin and simply 'export' the configuration table.

Using 'import' to restore is just as simple.

If there *is* a zencart specific tool to save/restore the settings, then by all means use it, but because it is so easy to save/restore using other methods (such as phpmyadmin) I probably wouldn't spend more than 2 minutes looking.

There is also an 'added benefit' to doing it 'manually' using phpmyadmin, and that is it will expose you to a very powerful tool that you will almost certainly need to use at some stage or other during your time with zenCart, so now's a good time to start as any, IMO. Well, certainly a better time than having to learn how to use it 'from scratch' during a time of disaster recovery.

    Just my 2cents worth.

    Cheers

Easy task, fast answer and perfect solution.

I wish everyone else would respond accordingly, instead of all "Why questions!"

    Thank you again Rod.

On another day it would/could have been me asking the questions, and someone else providing a suitable definitive answer.

Much depends on how we perceive the question, and figuring the best response for any given person/query.

It is unfair to 'dis' those that ask further questions before giving a response, they/we do it for the benefit of the person with the problem, not because we get some kind of weird kick/thrill out of it. If we were being paid by the word (or time spent) I could understand where you are coming from, but that isn't the case either.

A person could easily be offended by your comments. I know I wouldn't be too happy if the tables were turned. I don't deserve to be singled out as the one that best helped you. We often work as a team, one of us will ask questions, another will jump in as a result of responses, and another will ask further questions. It is actually quite unusual for anyone to provide a definitive answer without a bit of conversation to clarify things. I guess I just got lucky. OTOH, if there is an add-on that did what your required then my response would actually have done you a disservice.

Just something to keep in mind for the future. I know you didn't mean any harm.

    Cheers

Rod - Please pardon me and do not take any offense in my comment, taking it personally, as I did not mean to offend you or anyone else in this forum.

I have always been thankful to the founders, contributors and other members helping in this forum; assisting me and others with our problems. Thank you. -- Kevin
