Subcategory Images and Drop Down menu

I am trying to figure out how to assign an image to a subcategory listing and how to turn on the drop down option from the main category to the sub category.

The Travel & Interest Category has subcategories. I would like to have those drop down when either hover or click on. Also once you click on Travel and Interest I would like to have images for the subcategories. Under States there are more subcategories I would like to put images on those as well.

Drop downs for cat tabs is not part of the base ZenCart code
