Left sidebox not resizing

Tried to resize my sidebox today and noticed that it would not accommodate me.

In config/layout changes had no effect. And by the way, contrary to what the note says, it does make a difference if you use the units or not. At least for me. If I drop the px I get no change. Heres the odd thing, if I use the px, center column moves over accordingly, but sideboxes dont budge.

I am using default template and v1.5

A peak at the sourcecode shows that my changes in layout do show up, but sidebox actually stays the same.

You have not set the wrapper width
admin > config > layout settings > Column Width - Left
and
admin > config > layout settings > Column Width - Left Boxes

Should at least be the same

Yes I have. that's the problem. check here and you will see the 300px shift.
