I have tried to look for this topic on internet, but i didnt find any practical "step by step" on how this actually works.
I have a shop and we have around 500 products. The most challenging situation is to have control over the inventory. For now when we receive goods from supplier, we update the quantity (put the number of items) manually in zen cart for that product. So if i have 50 of product A, then we update the product with 50. This is a hard way to do i think. A normal shop have a barcode scanner.
I also have barcode scanner but i have never used it, since i dont know how.
Now, we have a physical store also in addition to our webside and customers also buy here directly in the store. Then later we have to go to admin and reduce the qty.
In some situation we also have to send a replacement to the customer. So if we forget to update the qty in admin, then this could result in wrong qty at stock.
I have read about numinix. Can this be the solution on how to keep better and accurate inventory control?
To keep the questions under control, i have it in numbers.
Questions:
1. Do i have to put a barcode sticker to all products in stock and scan each product? If so, how does the qty of product A being updated on zen cart in admin?
2. Where and how is the barcodes made? In excel?
3. Do i have to download the qty of products from the zen cart database, import it to excel, open the file, produce a barcode for each product, print that out and label each product with that barcode and scan?
If not, how so?
4. The barcode scanner we have is Cipher lab 1090+. Can that be used for this purpose?
Can someone please help? The way we do it today is very time consuming, and i am sure a lot of others would be thankful for this. Would appreciate it.
