Custom text for Shipping Methods

I need to allow a shopper to select from different types of Shipping Methods, but without me having to actually install a specific module, ie. how do I add options that aren't linked to actual code?

The shopper must be able to select the following Shipping Methods for their order:

1. Walk in
2. Registered Post (South African Post Office tariffs)
3. Courier (for clients own account)

The "Walk In" option uses the existing "Store Pickup" module, but the other options are merely text (ie. they aren't linked to a specific module that needs to be installed).

You can't have this both ways. If what you need isn't 'linked to actual code' (which I assume you mean to be 'built in code' AKA a standard installation), then your only option is to install the module(s) specific to your needs.

Perhaps I misunderstand the question?

Thanks for your reply - and you've understood my question perfectly!

This absolutely isn't an appropriate solution, but I've installed the Table and Zone Rates modules and simply edited the text to be displayed via /includes/languages/english/modules/shipping/TEMPLATE/table.php and includes/languages/english/modules/shipping/TEMPLATE/zones.php

To continue my "work-around", do you know how I can remove the actual calculated shipping amounts from displaying on the Shipping Checkout screen?

If I were Totally Zenned I'd write a module to properly enable my requirements, but I'll leave that for you genii!

Guessing you could probably adapt this to suit your needs by simply entering your three "methods" as "locations" and then reword "store pickup" to "delivery method":
