    Default help with Shipping Calculatoins

    Hello there.
I am a website developer and Zen Cart newbie. My client wants to ship using the following critereia. With her current shopping cart she has it setup this way with Paypal doing the shipping calculations and it is working good for her. Unfortunately I found out that I can't disable the Zen Cart shipping and just let it defer to paypal. Now I need to set it up in Zen Cart and disable the Paypal shipping. The solutions isn't very clear to me.

    East of the Mississippi States:

Tiered rates based on order amount. For example:

    $0.01 to $75.00 is $8.95 shipping
    $75.01 to $125.00 is $10.95
    $125.01 to $175.00 is $12.95
    $175.01 to $225.00 is $15.95
    $225.01 to $300.00 is $18.95
    $300.01 And up is $30.00

    West of the Mississippi States:

Tiered rates based on amount similar but slightly different to the example above.

    Canada:

Also has a tiered table based on price.

International: Needs ability to block certain countries

Based on total price table like all examples above.

Question: Can I accomplish this with the installed Shipping Modules or am I going to have to find a plugin or something. If so, any suggestions?

    Thanks!
    Kim

This can be accomplished with the standard shipping modules, but there is a PLUGIN called zonetables (which is a nifty combination of two existing modules - zone rates and table rates).

I use it often, as it gives a lot of flexibility with zone-based rates.

You MUST, however, set up your ZONE DEFINITIONS first (not difficult), before you install zonetables.

But yes... your configuration is possible.

Aside: You said you're using v1.3.9a. If you're very intentionally choosing to stick with v1.3.9, then you should at least be using v1.3.9h.

But remember that due to server technologies constantly evolving forward to newer PHP versions you'll eventually find significant pressure to use more modern versions of Zen Cart.

My point is: don't unnecessarily start with an obsolete base without having a very solid reason for doing so. And if you do need to start with 1.3.9 then be sure to include upgrading as part of your very-soon-to-do plans.

    Dr.Byte....Thanks for your comment.

I am using v1.3.9a because my client chose a template from Template Monster and that is what version it was compatible with. Or so I think.

I have done a lot of work in Joomla but not Zen Cart. Can you upgrade and keep your template? What if some customization has been done to your template?

... And you let them do this?

If you were really interested in your client's welfare, you would have STRONGLY advised them NOT to use TM.

Now you are facing upgrade challenges - and are running on a version that is very out-of-date.

You should at least upgrade to 1.3.9h .

And then discuss with you client alternatives to TM.

Can I upgrade to 1.3.9h with my current template?
