Default Products Link Problems Help Please

I have a issue. I'm new with using Zen Cart. I have created products in my subcatagories in two different ways. One of the ways the link its creating is taking me to a 404 Page Not found error. When I take out part of the link the link will work. (here is the link that will not work that when I make a new product using one way) http://buyingsilverdollars.com/zenca...products_id=13 If I take out the word silver between product and info the link will work great. (example) http://buyingsilverdollars.com/zenca...products_id=13 Is there a easy way for me to get the link to work. I use this way to create my products so I can update my prices using currencies. Thanks Scott

    Clear as mud, I'm afraid...

Tried making heads and tails of your post but I have no idea what you are doing.

Please explain again... and tell us the STEPS you have taken, WHERE you have taken these steps, and WHAT the result was each step of the way.

It sounds like you are NOT USING zencart's LINKED PRODUCT FUNCTION... but are trying to hash something together.

Search for LINKED PRODUCTS on the forum.

Using this built-in function is quick, easy and effective, so even an idiot like me can do it.

I suspect you had intended to provide complete URLs but you've apparently copy-and-pasted something that's shortened those URLs, thus hiding the references to "silver" that you intimate might be the problem.

And, yes, adding extra words into the URL would definitely break the URL.

    Hi Schoolboy

Thanks for your help. Here is my problem again maybe this will clarify whats going on and what I need help with. When I create a product in a subcatagory its not creating a clickable link. If I take out the word "Silver" in the link the link will work. If you click on the two links above you can see what I'm referring to. Thanks for your help again. Scott

    HI DrByte

Thanks for your help. If you click on the URLs then it will bring up the full URL and you can see where "Silver" is located in the link. Here is what is happening. When I create a product in a subcatagory its not creating a clickable link. If I take out the word "Silver" in the link the link will work. If you click on the two links above you can see what I'm referring to. Thanks for your help again. Scott

I just reposted the links on the forum page in the #7 message so you can take a look at the links side by side. Thanks Scott

Sounds like you're messing with product type settings.

Did you happen to change the product-type "handler" setting to "product_silver" instead of "product"? If so, then you'll also need to make a number of custom programming additions to your site's code to finish creating your own custom product-type.

The short fix is to rename the handler back to "product" so that it works correctly again.
