Smaller database after upgrade.

Hi,

I finished upgrading to 1.5.1 a couple of days ago. I made a backup of my database today and I noticed that my SQL dump file was about 66% smaller than before the upgrade (I was using 1.3.8a).

SQL dump file before upgrade (1.3.8a): 70.3MB
SQL dump file after upgrade (1.5.1): 24.2MB

Is this normal? Everything seems to be working ok without any problems but I just thought it was a bit odd that the database was so much smaller.

No, not really. At least not in my experience.

A little bit of 'shrinkage' can be expected as a result of the tables being cleaned up during the upgrade, but the difference you note seems a little excessive.

Sorry, I don't really have an explanation. Have you tried comparing the two sql dumps to see what the differences are? A difference of this magnitude shouldn't be difficult to identify.

Hi Rod,

Thanks, I found it. I had a PayPal Sessions Viewer mod installed before I upgraded. I no longer need it, so I skipped it when upgrading. I didn't realise it would make such a sizeable difference to the database.
